         <description><![CDATA[In celebration of National Student-Athlete Day, the Alabama A&M office of CHAMPS/NCAA Life Skills within the department of athletics, will host the second annual "Great Bulldog Race," along with other events on campus Tuesday, April 8. The race pits 10 teams of Bulldog student-athletes in a competition to gather historical information on Alabama A&M University throughout the day from various faculty and staff members known as "keyholders" on campus. The contest results are based not only on the fact-finding hunt, but grade point average and event involvement as well.]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[Southwestern Athletic Conference champion Alabama A&M makes its seventh trip to the NCAA Tournament in eight years and opens Friday at 4:00 p.m. (Central) with the overall No. 8 seed UCLA. The NCAA announced the tournament pairings Sunday night. The Bruins (20-10) are an at-large berth from the PAC-10 Conference and have won three national titles in their history (1984, 1990, 1991). The Bulldogs (15-9) won the SWAC's automatic selection with an impressive run through the SWAC Tournament a week ago and hav won 11 of their last 14 matches. Alabama (15-14) and Clemson (28-3) make up the other side of the bracket.]]></description>

The Bulldogs returned to the top of the league that they dominated for six straight years from 2000 to 2005. Brittani Lewis earned SWAC Tournament MVP honors with 88 kills, five aces, 17 blocks, and 57 digs in five tournament matches, and joined Madinah Abdullah on the all-tournament team. First-year head coach Nedra Brown earned SWAC Coach of the Year honors. The win sends the Bulldogs back to the NCAA Tournament for the seventh time in eight years.]]></description>

The Bulldogs defeated Jackson State on Friday to open play in the tournament and Saturday swept past Arkansas-Pine Bluff and Southern before falling to Jackson State in the finale. The 3-1 record on the weekend leaves the Bulldogs at 10-7 overall and sets up an important week. If the Bulldogs can sweep home matches over Alabama State on Wednesday and Mississippi Valley State on Monday, A&M will get the top seed from the SWAC East in the conference tournament.]]></description>
