Georgia on My Mind: Dogs vs. Dawgs in NCAA First Round

Go Bulldogs!!!

Nov. 12, 2007

Complete Bracket

Alabama A&M (10-6-3) will face No. 13 Georgia (17-3-2) in the first round Friday of the NCAA Women's Soccer Tournament.  Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m (Central). Georgia will host the first and second rounds on Friday and Sunday with South Carolina (14-6-2) and Duke (8-5-6) filling out the opening game in the bracket. Alabama A&M, which won the Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament to earn the league's automatic berth into the NCAA Tournament, is making its first trip to the championships. Georgia, which lost to Florida in the SEC finals, is making its fifth trip the NCAA Tournament.

"We are excited about being able to play at the highest level and represent the SWAC and Alabama A&M University," said AAMU head coach Frank Davies. "We have a lot of respect for Georgia and appreciate the level of respect the NCAA selection committee gave this team."

Georgia is a three seed in its portion of the 64-team bracket.  In the same region are top seed North Carolina, second-seeded Purdue, and four seed Notre Dame.

Alabama A&M enters Friday's match riding a nine-game unbeaten streak. The only blemish during that span was a 1-1 tie in the season finale vs. Jackson State. The Bulldogs have not lost a game since a 2-0 loss at Austin Peay on October 1.

Tickets for the Georgia regional games will cost $7 for adults and $3 for children and students with a valid I.D. Fans can purchase tickets at the venue on Friday or can place orders in advance by calling the UGA Ticket Office at 706-542-1231. Tickets purchased for Friday's first round action will be valid for both games
